Judge N W Gilmore sentenced Gearald McKissock to two years in state prison after a guilty plea to grand larceny. George Welsh got one year in county jail for stealing and operating a stolen car. Marvin Baldwin and Frank Barbee were fined 50 and 10 dollars for careless and reckless driving. Elvis Kaiser and Victor McCoy were granted divorces with custody. Loraine Busch also received a divorce with custody. Ethel Chapman obtained a default judgment of 659.20 plus interest against Robert Spradling.

Miss Lillie Newton Retires After Half Century in Missouri Schools
Miss Lillie Newton retires from teaching after more than fifty years in Missouri schools. Born in Scott County near Morelyn, she taught at Baker School Salcedo for seventeen years, Lutesville Bollinger County for twelve, Ripley County for five, and Sikeston Elementary since 1949. Superintendent Noah E. Gray called her one of the finest teachers in the area. She resides with her sister at 403 Daniel.

In Magistrate Court at Charleston on July 7 Isabelle Diel of East Prairie was bound over to circuit court for trial after waiving a preliminary hearing on arson charges for setting fire to a house July 3 owned by Freddie Burkett.
