Coast Guard Band to Tour Sikeston for War Loan Drive
The United States Coast Guard Band of St. Louis will perform in Sikeston on Tuesday January 18 as part of the Fourth War Loan Drive. The 31 member band directed by Chief Musician George R Rachford will play for grade school pupils at 2 PM and high school pupils at 3 PM in the high school gym, then a public adult meeting at 7 30 PM in the Sikeston Armory featuring Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Lewis Autrey who recently returned from war zones. The group will also stop in Cape Girardeau Cairo Cart h ersville Kennett and Charleston before returning to St Louis. Sikeston boy John Pander is a Sousaphone player in the band.

Bond Drives to Sell War Bonds in Sikeston
Sikeston joins the Fourth War Loan Drive with a plan to sell 265000 dollars worth of bonds. The United States Coast Guard Band opens the effort next Tuesday and on Wednesday merchants will close to allow home visits by bond solicitors.
