Mules Fatally Injured in Wreck Near Sikeston
A span of mules owned by Arch Russell were fatally injured when a Reo truck driven by L C Robinson struck their wagon on Highway 61 four miles south of Sikeston. Robinson and passengers Annie B Robinson and James Williams faced reckless driving charges. State Highway Patrol said the truck attempted to pass and struck the wagon. J Stanberg witnessed the crash.

State License Deadline Set For February 15
Missouri motorists must display 1938 license plates by midnight February 15. The State Highway Patrol and other agencies will enforce the license law, urging cooperation in stopping last year’s tags. Secretary of State Dwight H. Brown ordered enforcement, while W. H. Steward noted continued checks for driver's licenses and that auto licenses revenue so far outpaced last year, with about one million sales and a projected final total of one and a half million.

Malden student pilot injured in Frisco crash
Poplar Bluff citizen Goldsmith a 21 year old student pilot is hospitalized with critical injuries from a two passenger plane crash near Frisco in Stoddard County late Tuesday. Doctors report a broken neck. Goldsmith, a Malden store clerk, had been taking lessons from plane owner Hubert Fowler of Malden, whose aircraft was completely wrecked.

Descriptions: first man about 25, 5'6", 130 lbs, blue suit and light hat with a mustache. Second about 25, 5'11", 170 lbs, Roman nose, red complexion, black jacket and hat. Third about 25, 5'8", 160 lbs. They fled in a 1935 or 1936 Chevrolet coach.

Drowned man identified after car plunges into Mississippi at Cape Girardeau
Herman M. Macke a 41 year old night watchman at the International Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau died when his 1931 model car plunged from a cobblestone incline at Themis street into the Mississippi about 7 50 am. The car sank in water over 15 feet deep and was found later by divers. A coroner's jury ruled death accidental. Survived by widow two daughters and a son. Witnesses heavy ice floes and strong current hindered retrieval efforts.
