Pfc. Joe N. May of Morley earned possession of an almost-new Nazi flag after racing into a French town hall to claim it. The flag, displayed in The Herald window, was sent to Miss Joyce Taylor of Sikeston. May, with the 30th Infantry Headquarters Company, has been overseas a year. In a letter he said he ran to reach the city hall and nab the banner but won’t seek more such keepsakes.

Negroes Face Trial On Gas Coupon Theft

Funeral services were conducted at Dexter for Rev. James Franklin Holland a former Methodist minister of Scott county who died after a long illness. Burial followed in Dexter Cemetery. He was born September 5 1875 in Reynolds county and lived in Dexter since 1941. Frank W Van Horne and wife returned from Mexico Missouri after the death of his father L C Van Horne at Adrian County Hospital in Mexico. The funeral was held Saturday with Rev George A Hammon officiating and burial in the Mexico cemetery. L C Van Horne was aged 83 and survived by four sons Earl J Kansas City Howard Richfield Utah Lee Jefferson City and Frank W Van Horne Sikeston and two daughters Mrs Martin Turner Myers Mexico and Mrs Elmer J Meyer Elgon Missouri. Mrs Van Horne had died fifteen years earlier.
