LaForge Farmers Celebrate Second Anniversary Cooperative Project
The LaForge Farms Resettlement Project near Sikeston and in New Madrid county spans 6700 acres with 100 farm families. Government support, favorable weather, and crops have built a self sustaining community, yielding surplus cash and valued inventories as families repay loans and expand farming. A Christmas festival celebrated two years of operation and the cooperative association leased local facilities including a cotton gin and warehouses.

Santa letters of Missouri memories echoed in an Ozark Christmas
A long Missouri letter to Santa reflects on Christmas past and present. It recalls Ozark mornings, Camden county bramble patches, Osage roads, and carding memories from towns like Polo and Marshall. The writer notes gifts of friendship, community, and home places, urging Santa to remember Grandma Matilda Hord and Missouri’s 4-H youth, with local color from Queen City to Hannibal.
