Past Week in Europe's War Capt. Langsdorf Commits Suicide

A historical Near East and Atlantic war roundup reports Capt Hans Langsdorf commander of the Admiral Graf Spee shooting himself in a Buenos Aires hotel room after bringing his men ashore for internment. The Graf Spee's actions, scuttling, and related naval events across the South Atlantic and Arctic fronts are recounted with multiple dates and places, including US naval actions, oil traffic, and Finland defending Helsinki against Soviet pressure. The piece blends battle summaries, internment notes, and civilian notices from the era.
