Crop rotation uses first-year sweet clover for pasture needs
Farmers plan rotations to provide first-year sweet clover to bridge short or unpalatable pastures. The practice adds to lespedera and permanent grasses, boosting pasture in the second year. In Missouri it combines small grain with first-year clover in one field and second-year clover in another to supply early spring and summer pasture and possibly a seed crop.
Campaign information for farmers and local leaders
The notice advises treating legs and chest four weeks before treatment with hot soapy water and scraping with a case house or using a two percent Lysol or coal tar disinfectant. Farmers interested should contact local leaders or extension agents for more information.
