The second annual Jaycee Home Show at the Armory in Sikeston offers free attendance prizes including a portable TV set, a stereo system, a sewing machine, a typewriter and a sweeper, plus many other gifts. Drawings are scheduled Friday, Saturday, Sunday with free prize tickets available from participating merchants. Centennial costumed entertainment will accompany the displays as visitors view home furniture, appliances, and trailers from over fifty merchants and dealers.

Car flips over as chase ends in death near Jackson
An 18 year old Kinloch man was killed and his companion injured when a stolen car fled from Missouri Highway Patrol troopers at Jackson and along Highway 61. The vehicle crashed at the Highway 61 and 60 intersection near a small island, after a high speed pursuit from Jackson to the Kinloch area. The dead man, Raymond Shackleford, had been arrested days earlier for vehicle registration and licensing issues.
