Patrolmen Recover Car Stolen in Memphis Tennessee
Sikeston officers Dace and Tandy recovered a stolen 1985 Chevrolet on Highway 61 between Sikeston and New Madrid last Friday. Linn Fisher of Decatur Illinois, found with the car, admitted the theft. he was later taken by Memphis Police to the city.

Big Opening Resident Dies from Exposure
Charles Moore of the Big Opening community was found dead on a country road five miles southeast of here. An inquest by Coroner L. A Richards of New Madrid ruled death by exposure after Moore, who had been drinking, wandered home and apparently fell into a roadside ditch. The body is held at Welsh Funeral Home pending arrival of nephew Clarence Powell of Jefferson City.

Training Course For Scoutmasters In Sikeston
This Thursday night the first lectures will be given for two Scoutmasters training courses and a Cub training course at the Marshall Hotel west dining room at 7 30 p m after the Kiwanis Club meeting. The Kiwanis sponsor the new Cub Pack in Sikeston. All interested in Scouting as Troop Committeemen or Scoutmasters or Assistant Scoutmasters are invited to take the six session course. One lesson per week for six weeks. Troop committeemen for Troops 41 42 43 and the new 44 are urged to enroll. The Cub course targets Cub Chiefs and parents of Cubs in Sikeston.

Detroit Family Hurt In Collision Near Sikeston
Five persons were injured Sunday afternoon in a head on crash on Highway 61 ten miles south of Sikeston. Dr H H Cornwall of Charleston and passenger Joe Halter of Charleston rode in the northbound car, while M H Wedge of Detroit and his wife and son Paul traveled south. Wedge attempted to pass another vehicle when his car veered left and struck Cornwall’s car. Mrs Wedge had a deep facial cut, Mr Wedge fractured shoulder blade, Paul cut on the legs, and Dr Cornwall and Joe Halter were lightly hurt. The Detroit family proceeded to Texas after receiving care in Sikeston.
