The Cyanide Process Gains Economic Recognition

The cyanide process has reached the experimental stage in the United States and may prove an economical method for treating certain gold ores. It lags behind South Africa and New Zealand where it succeeded, with failures largely due to differing conditions and engineering gaps. Large, well designed plants are required, with 100 ton per day mills costing around 75,000 dollars, while smaller setups may be 40,000 to 45,000. The main challenge remains treating native ore rather than tailings. Monday afternoon A D Coon killed a five foot hoop snake in his front yard. Captain Jack Crawford notes his upcoming return after supporting McKinley.
