Black Range News Chronicle Remembered Lively Mining Town

Thirty years ago The Black Range region saw the first issue of The Black Range News in Kebinssa near Far View. The paper moved to Chloride in 1893 and chronicled post offices, mining strikes, a baby poem, new saloon Monte Cristo, and local figures like Grafton builders, Salt Creek miners, and the Little Luella tunnel.

Sierra County Democrats Convene in Hillsboro May 4

Sierra County Democrats met in Hillsboro to instruct delegates for the State Democratic Convention in Clovis. The resolutions endorsed Woodrow Wilson, urged fair rights, and backed J. H. Latham for national nomination. Also noted were visitors N W Cooper and A A Stanton touring via Globe, Deming, Hillsboro, and Magdalena.
