An accidental dynamite explosion near Tom Mahar's store at the Piers last Saturday night killed Luciano Malendres instantly and seriously injured Pablo Flores. The blast, believed to have started by a tossed match among rubbish, exploded powder and cartridges. Flores survived badly burned and blinded in one eye, with others injured. A coroner's jury attributed death to accidental dynamite explosion.
