The Silver City Enterprise reports the Apache Box gold mine west of Silver City New Mexico has been sold to Smith brothers of Boston and Springfield Muse for 5000. The contract was signed in El Paso. Hon W Wf Andrews former popular delegate in Congress from New Mexico announces his candidacy to succeed A B Fall in March 1913. He opens his campaign in the state legislature by requesting primaries at the new November elections to let voters choose the Senator before the January 1913 legislative session. He favors an open primary and pledges to bow to majority will if not elected.
Socorro Chieftain reports William Barnes an old Socorro county resident dropped dead while waiting on a customer at the Beach Supply store in Magdalena Unele Mya age 60 and unconnected by family. His remains were buried in the Magdalena cemetery.
The late A. Tenyson Dickens denounces the Tripoli war during a Chicago interview. He claims slavery is replaced by colonial exploitation and high taxes that burden the people. The bitter remark, “Sla very” underscores his view of ongoing oppression.
