Rites Held at Potter for R E Slocumb
Funeral services for Raymond E. Slocumb 53 were held at Potter Methodist Church with Rev. Homer B. Hix presiding. Interment followed in Potter cemetery under The Gehrig Funeral Home. Slocumb, a Webster South Dakota native, served in WWI and the U S Navy before moving to Potter. He was active in the American Legion and Lions Club and known as Deac. He married Lulu B. Guy in 1929 and died after months of illness. Survivors include wife Lulu and his mother Lillian Slocumb. Several local residents attended the services.

Value of Farm Products Soars But Farmer Isn't Better Fixed
September's rising markets lifted farm income yet farmers feel little real gain. Corn and other commodities hit all time highs while wheat reached a 25 year mark at 2.80 a bushel on the Chicago exchange then cooled. Agricultural Department reports show prices received by farmers up about 11 percent over a year, while prices paid by farmers rose 16 percent, leaving farmers with a net 17 percent advantage though not as strong as August 1946. Forecasts from Atlantic City banker C W Bailey predict further price readjustment toward 70 cent corn and 1 dollar wheat as market forces realign.

Three Injured In Car Crash In City Park Area
Three members of the Worrall family were injured when their car was struck broadside by Edward Wellner’s vehicle at the 19th Avenue Elm Street intersection.
