How Much Should the Baby Gain
The Delineator states that a healthy infant typically gains six ounces weekly in the first five months and four ounces weekly for the next three to four months. A birth weight of seven and a half pounds would reach about fifteen pounds at five months and about nineteen pounds at nine months. Regular weekly weight records are essential to judge progress, and deviation from the average suggests checking feeding method or seeking medical advice.

Boston Water Supply Pipe Arch Bridge Featured
An engineering curliery notes a unique pipe arch bridge over the Stidbers river in this country, claimed to be the only parallel in Europe. The eighty foot span carries Boston's water supply with a seven and a half inch diameter steel pipe rising five and a half feet above the center. Abutments bear heavy pressure when filled, resisted by a concrete mass forty feet thick behind each abutment. A hand raised foot bridge runs across the curved top, and the pipe arch steel has a thickness of five eighths inch.
