Plan rail extension in western Nebraska to group lines

Judge Berry man of Bassett, head of the Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado Development association, says Burlington and Great Northern extensions from Sidney to Mullen and Thedford to ONeill and Plainview to Yanktown would be pursued if the railroads are grouped by the Interstate Commerce Commission this fall. The plan, under study for years, hinges on consolidating Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Burlington, and Colorado & Southern. If approved, the cut-off from Sidney to Mullen would shorten Denver to Duluth routes by 115 miles, boosting western Nebraska agriculture and benefiting towns like Sidney and Gordon along the proposed line.
