Local items record visits by Mrs. R C Cury of Lodgepole and Alderman Tobin in Denver. Congressman M P Kinkaid and J H McNew noted in Sidney, with W J Bryan passing through en route to Lincoln. Prohibition and Democratic notes, marriages, real estate moves, and a business dissolution, plus a Sidney resident headed to New York City.
The Nebraska Republican Convention at Lincoln on September 24 1907 endorses Theodore Roosevelt’s policies and Taft as successor. It praises railroad regulation, anti trust actions, and seeks continuance of Roosevelt era policies. It commends the state administration, school funds, and Republican congressional delegation, and supports a direct primary and anti pass laws with railway commission powers and hoped grain rate reductions. It urges federal court jurisdiction reform for interstate corporations and bans injunctions against state officers. It invites voters who value probity to elect the ticket.
Republican committee adjourned meeting last Saturday adopted a $5 assessment on each candidate to cover records and expenses. F A Gapen chosen as delegate to State Convention. P R Borgquist and R E Barrett to continue as chairman and secretary for the year. Sheriff McDaniel now collects fees in advance. other notes cover local marriages and social events in Bridgeport and Cheyenne county.

The Cheyenne County Sunday School Association met in Sidney over the weekend with about fifty delegates from outside Sidney and strong local attendance. Prof. Staidley of Lincoln, Dr. Bailey, and Miss Stocker led sessions on the Twentieth Century Sunday School, Young Men in the Sunday School, and primary teaching methods. A noted paper by Miss Sage of Dalton on entertaining boys drew praise, while reports indicated growing interest and attendance countywide. Arthur North was re elected president, Mrs. Ahrens Secretary and Treasurer, with Bayard chosen as site for the next meeting.
Firemen G N Eckert Kline Myers and Jackson of the fourth district promoted to engineers and serving as traveling engineers on the right-hand side of the cab. Ed Ahrens replaces Bismark Range as switch engine fireman. Nels Hammer roadmaster Wyoming Division visited town. W J Stuart resigns as district foreman to take a traveling engineer post between North Platte and Laramie. Berry replaces him at North Platte. Substantial yard business grows as LeSage Trognite handles stock shippers. George W Vrooman, longtime Union Pacific engineer, returns to run the Los Angeles Limited on the third district after years elsewhere. Rev James appointed by General Conference to Sidney for another year. Fred Cook leaves for Spokane and western tour, possibly a month long.

R P Scott was down from Bridgeport the first of the week. Willie and Floyd Cooper were at Smith Bros ranch Saturday afternoon. Potato harvest chest cone again and they are a good crop. Gee Beerling is a bachelor since his wife went away. Samuel Doon was visiting Bridgeport last week. Edna and Anthony Johnson went to Bridgeport last Thursday.
