Plan to transfer land east of Sidney for tax incentive
A revised plan stops a two-tract land swap from School District 1 to District 77 north of Sidney. The 16 acre Union Pacific tract will likely be leased rather than sold, while a 20 acre private parcel may be avoided. The goal is to attract industry with a lower district levy and potential new rail business, though residents of District 77 fear industrial growth could spur housing development. District 1 would forego its land to benefit the wider region.
