Pope Trial Set On Nov 5 6 in Deuel County
Duane Pope, convicted murderer and bank robber, faces a tentative two day trial on November 5 and 6 in Deuel County with District Judge John H. Kins presiding. A prior stipulation spells conditions for joining four cases, allows identical testimony, permits opening and closing remarks, and permits evidence on mitigation if guilty. Pope’s federal death sentence was commuted to three life terms, prompting state charges that could run concurrently or sequentially, a case drawing nationwide attention.
