St. Pauls Float Wins At Potter Days Parade Honor

St. Pauls Lutheran Church float won top honors in the Potter Days parade for the second year. Potter School took second, Potter Coops third, and Potter Firemen and Auxiliary fourth. Prizes went to adults Randy Brauer and Estel Nelson, with kids rewarded in clown and bicycle divisions. Royalty included Queen Vicki Dindinger and attendants, with bands from seven towns joining the procession.

Sidney sale hits high prices for calves and hogs

At the Sidney Live stock Commission Co sale 868 animals passed through the ring with steer calves to 29 dollars hogs at 23, and heifer calves up to 26.40 dollars. Harry Oliverius of Sidney bought top prices for multiple entries as buyers urged consignments for future Saturdays. Weather slowed activity but demand remained strong in a region rebuilding cattle and hog herds.

Panhandle Weather Outlook Shows Cool Week Ahead

A Panhandle forecast notes considerable cloudiness through Tuesday with lows of 30 to 40 and highs near 50 to 60. The five day outlook calls for average temperatures about 10 degrees below normal with a slow warming trend and highs of 55 to 65, lows 25 to 35, and occasional light showers. Arlin Caster Dies at 42 in Memorial Hospital

Arlin LaVern Caster 42 died after a five day illness at Memorial Hospital. Funeral at Light Memorial Presbyterian Church Tuesday with burial Wednesday in Stuart Nebraska. Survived by his widow Laura, two sons Allyn and Gary, twin daughters Susan and Sally, a brother M R Caster, sister Mrs Ira Brittell, and his parents. He served in the U S Navy World War II era and was an operating partner of A A Construction Co in the Julesburg Basin.

The Game Commission announces Lincoln Nebraska that new hunting guides will be ready shortly after September 23. Wheat Growers Head Sees Senate Bill Boost in County Income

Cheyenne County wheat producers may gain at least a half million dollars in additional income if the omnibus Farm Bill passes both chambers. Cliff Hersboldsheimer of Potter notes bipartisan support and calls the measure potentially the most impactful for Nebraska’s economy in this Congress while outlining provisions on parity, certificates, and a four year plan with voluntary participation.

Dalton Set For Festival

Cold damp weather did not deter Potter Days activities Friday and Saturday as the Dalton Fall Festival opened today. A Monday ball game between Potter and Dalton reserves starts the events with two big parades planned for Tuesday morning at 10 30 and the second at 7 30 in the evening. Other events include races for kids a horse show contests a ladies softball game and a post parade awards and entertainment program at the school auditorium.

KSID Radio Honored by Ak-Sar-Ben for Community Work
