Benedict Died In Fist Fight Over Debt Payment

Former Sidney man Jack Benedict died after a fist fight in Alamosa Colorado last Saturday night over a bill. He struck Samuel A Nunnelly, who countered and knocked him to the curb. Benedict later died in hospital after briefly recovering, his body returned to Sidney for funeral services.

Fined for Stealing Revolver on Farm

Dick Lane twenty seven was fined fifteen dollars and costs in county court for stealing a small calibre revolver from Herman Treinen. Lane had worked on the Treinen farm but departed about a week ago. Sheriff Schulz traced him to a farm north of Lodge Pole and took him into custody.

Farm Price Level At Low Point Since 1916

The department of agriculture reports the farm price index for the month ending August 15 at 108, the lowest since 1916, down 3 percent from July 15. Prices for hogs, cattle, potatoes, and butter rose in late August while wheat stayed depressed, reflecting drought and global market pressures.

Couple Is Married At Catholic Church

A wedding held Monday at 8 am in the Catholic church joined Miss Mary Elizabeth Lack and John Arthur Mohatt in matrimony. Rev. Anton Link officiated. Miss Margaret Lacy and Everett Mohatt served as attendants. The bride, daughter of Mr. Michael Lacy of Spalding, Nebr., taught school in the county last year. The groom is the son of Mrs. Catherine Mohatt of a farm southwest of Sidney.

Favorable improvement noted in the condition of Mrs. A. S. Hardy and Mrs. F. A. Barger after last Friday auto wreck near Brush, which killed Mrs. E. L. Uptegrove. Hardy most seriously injured, expected to be weeks in recovery. Barger recovering from a broken arm, both showing progress. Potter Captures League Honors In Game Wednesday

Potter defeated Sidney 15 to 6 to clinch the Cheyenne county league pennant in a Wednesday showcase on Potter day. Art Closman fanned 14 and hit a three bagger, dominating Sidney’s lineup as Hornby, Santo, and Bales pitched for Sidney. The Bearcats had 15 hits to Sidney’s nine in a one sided title clinching affair.
