Farmer Chris Schwanz Found Dead Near Paxton Nebraska
The body of farmer Chris Schwanz was found in bed about twenty miles north of Paxton Nebraska by a cowhand on the Bratt ranch. The coroner was notified and a jury summoned. Investigation shows Schwanz had been dead about three weeks and was last seen alive then. He appeared to have just returned from town with new goods in the wagon. He unhitched and unharnessed the horses, went inside, closed the door, laid down and died. No signs of struggle or deadly instruments were found, though the pillow and floor showed he bled freely before dying. Republican Convention toting.

Repeal of the Act of 1888 and arid lands policy
Land Commissioner Groff issued circular to land office registers releasing arid region lands from reservation. It references the 1890 act repealing parts of the 1888 law, reserves reservoir sites, and limits title acquisitions to 320 acres. Also notes affidavits required to prevent overlap with prior filings and mentions army officer disputes and local business notices.
