Farm Bureau Writer Warns Minimum Wage Hikes Cost Jobs
M. M. Van Kirk argues two federal bills raising agricultural minimum wage to 2.00 or 2.25 per hour will raise unemployment, push more work to mechanization, and increase welfare costs. He cites USDA data from 1970, notes migrant workers decline, and warns small Nebraska farmers may fail while large producers gain.
