New Civil Defense Shelter Designs Improve Family Survival
The Office of Civil and Defense Mobilization introduces underground fallout shelters costing 1000 to 1500 dollars for families outside target cities with full radiation shielding and ventilation. Less expensive basement shelters offer adequate protection in most zones. The plan includes public education, shelter surveys, faster research, and demonstrator facilities in public buildings and institutions.
