A detailed report of the Sidney Nebraska Republican county convention held last Saturday. It notes broad representation, a close sheriff contest, and nominations for county judge treasurer clerk and other county officials. Judge Robert Shuman chaired, with Geo W Heist and Theo Menges in key roles. Neumann Fowler and others contested the sheriff nomination, Fowler winning. A county central committee was formed and adjournment followed.

County judge Robert Shuman a hotelman and former justice of the peace, county clerk L B Cary editor of the Express at Lodge Pole, treasurer Adam Ickes a Sidney dry goods man, sheriff S O Fowler a long time deputy and later sheriff, superintendent of public instruction Mrs E O Lee a Sidney teacher, county commissioner Morris Davis Union Pacific foreman, county surveyor Aone Fairfield North River region, coroner Dr B H Birney Sidney physician.
The Cheyenne County Board of County Commissioners met by adjournment with A G Neuman J B Stetson and F H DeCastro present. They audited and allowed multiple claims including Gazette Journal for bond record poll book printing Wellington for delinquent tax list Bush Callahan printing propositions and notices Lynch witness fees Barlow fees Walker fence repair Latlerty road supervision Jenner plow scraper and bridge material. The board adjourned to November 15 1887.
