United Fund in Sidney Reaches 43 Percent of Goal

The Sidney United Fund total now 6467 dollars, 43 percent of the 15000 dollar target, with advance gifts and business drive contributing most. Proceeds will aid 10 groups including Red Cross, Salvation Army, Boy and Girl Scouts, muscular dystrophy and arthritis funds, and other local organizations. Volunteer help comes from teachers groups, hospital staff, CWA, businesses, and youth groups.

Weather change predicted for Nebraska from AP report

The Associated Press notes a new weather shift for Nebraska with light rain in the extreme northwest today and more rain or light snow spreading northeast tonight. A cold front trails from Lake Winnipeg across western Minnesota to South Dakota and into Wyoming, with Tuesday bringing cooler highs from the 40s to the 50s and lows in the 20s to 40s.

Rate hike hearing set by Sidney council tonight

Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Co officials return to Sidney City Council to seek a 25 percent rate increase averaging about $3 per month for residents and businesses. Also on the agenda are truck traffic regulation on South 11th Ave, a package liquor license for Helen S. Bunion, and a public hearing on federal Community Development Act funding. The 7:30 p.m. meeting at City Hall is open to the public.

Sidney earns NCIP second place in Nebraska contest

Sidney finished second in the Nebraska Community Improvement Program contest with Alliance taking first and Kearney third. Sidney also earned an honorable mention for recreation and art development at the Lincoln awards banquet, with 180 communities participating nationwide.
