Police Check Trio of Auto Mishaps in Sidney
Sidney police logged three motor vehicle mishaps before 4 pm yesterday. The most damaging crash occurred at 7.09 am on 13th Avenue and Illinois Street, where a pickup driven by Paul Hummell, 46, and a car driven by Leonard McCormack, 23, both of Sidney, collided, causing hundreds of dollars in damage. Hummell was fined $1 for running a red light. Later in the afternoon two minor crashes occurred on Illinois Street between Tenth and 11th Avenues, involving Wallace Bunte, 29, of Scottsbluff, and Sam Houser, 57, of Grandview, Mich, and a backing car driven by Connie L Head, 24, of Sidney, striking another auto driven by James Montgomery, 30, of Sidney.

Mrs Pauline Kittleman badly burned in a summer home fire near Sidney is recovering at the University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha. The blaze killed her husband and three children. She receives grating treatment and is no longer in critical condition, with cards or letters directed to care of the hospital at 42nd and Dewey Streets.

The City of Sidney reports profits for all three utility departments in the latest audit. Electric ends with a net of 152,368.68, down from 184,607.43 a year earlier, water rises to 42,550.99 from 38,371.08, and sewer shows 17,486.36 versus 25,858.50 prior. The generation totals note line losses at the Memorial power plant with 16,189,800 KWH generated and 14,397,501 KWH sold in 1956-57, versus 16,322,600 generated and 14,534,140 sold in 1955-56. Depreciation figures are added to net income.
