Sidney Welcomes Governor Thayer and Dorsey In Grand Reception

A Friday welcome in Sidney featured Governor Thayer Congressman Dorsey and Judge Wall receiving a cordial train-side greeting and a large citizen escort to the hotel. They toured the garrison, attended a Gen Morrow reception, and heard eloquent speeches at the courthouse and at the ball. Dorsey praised Congress on irrigation and farmer bills. Thayer praised the town and campaign, while Judge Wall attacked the Democratic coalition. A Silver Wedding at the Miller home and a Sidney wedding followed, with community celebration and gifts. George S Elter, 27, died of lung fever near Lodge Pole. a funeral was held, with many mourners. A card of thanks from Mrs Crans acknowledged Redington sympathy after her husband’s death.

Union Pacific completes gauge widening Ogden to Poca tello

Announcement from the Union Pacific states the overland route gauge is widened from narrow to standard between Ogden and Poca tello. Beginning October 10 through trains with Pullman Palace Sleepers free reclining chair cars and day coaches will operate between Salt Lake City and Butte.
