The Ogallala Indians defeated Sidney 26-13 to seize third place in the Western Conference. Ogallala capitalized on Sidney penalties and turnovers, building a 19-0 lead before halftime, then held on as Sidney rallied in the final frame.
Harrisburg rallied with two touchdowns in the third period to lead McGrew 19 12 at halftime. McGrew answered with a 50 yard interception return for a touchdown and a 20 yard TD run to seal a 31 12 win at Lodgepole Valley Conference game. Broadwater Broadwater Bushnell routs Broadwater 39 7 with Stuckert scoring three times on 11 20 and 30 yard runs and a 15 yard pass to Tomich.
Sidney High School Freshman footballers posted their second victory of the season a 13–0 win over Sterling. Cole Schobert scored both Sidney touchdowns, including a 20 yard interception return and a 35 yard pick six. Willard added the PAT and Schobert handled the extra point.
Oskvarek won last week's Telegraph football guessing contest after 10 entrants tied with 18 correct picks. Tie-breaker margin favored Minnesota 10 0 over Michigan. Oskvarek's 21 13 spread beat the actual 10 point gap.
Sidney High School five man cross country team dominated the Wyoming University at LaGrande meet. Ed Bowman earned top AA time 11 07 beating all AA and A. Roger Robbins finished third Jack Bishop fourth Max Cory sixth and Jerry Clausen twelfth. LaGrange and Encampment tied for first in Class A. Sidney eyes Nebraska State Meet at Lincoln with Tuesday tryouts at the Country Club.
Mississippi beat Arkansas 10 to 7 and Utah defeated Denver 49 to 16. Other results include Texas Tech over SMU 28 to 7 and Arizona over New Mexico 26 to 14, Oregon over California 20 to 0, UCLA over Stanford 26 to 8, Washington over Oregon State 30 to 29, and Minnesota 10 to 0 over Michigan. Dick Gatch of Melbeta won the Class A race with a strong run on the course.
