Sidney business men discussed forming an association at a Lions Club meeting to sponsor regular bargain days. About 40 merchants attended and supported a centralized advertising manager, with dues, contracts, and pledges to ensure sustained efforts.
Dr J H Abbott returned from Lincoln after attending the funeral of his father Rev G W Abbott 82 a Methodist leader in eastern Nebraska Rev Abbott was buried in Wyuka on Tuesday He served churches at Grand Island Kearney Hastings Falls City Geneva University Place and Omaha and led Trinity Methodist in Omaha He is survived by three sons and one daughter.

E. E. Fenske, 06, pioneer Lodge Pole businessman, was found dead in his garage Wednesday afternoon. He had likely been dead since Sunday, with heart failure named as the cause. Since arriving in 1888 he ran a small shop and contributed to the city before his wife’s death about a year ago.

The pardon board met Wednesday and announced actions from western Nebraska. Terry Traxler of Cheyenne County, convicted in 1928 of highway robbery, was granted release on parole. reformatory attendants called him a model prisoner. Everett Davis, same-time convict on a similar charge, was deferred for further board consideration. F. B. Tobin of Sidney was named a member of the memorial committee by delegates at the 49th annual state convention of Nebraska volunteer fire departments. Other members on Tobin's committee include George C. Robien and Frank Dickey, with additional committees named at the opening session.
Mrs R A Randels, a prominent soprano soloist and former Le Monte School of Music student, served as a judge at the fourth national Atwater Kent audition held in Omaha on Saturday and Sunday. Winners of the Omaha contest will be announced later.
Lincoln hunters Dr. C. C. Hickman and Claude Donnelly led a two day sand hills shoot north of Oshkosh for canvasbacks. They were joined by Joe Simodynes H. B. Mantor L. G. Lowe Roy Hart Bill Lowe and others as hosts, with Charles Gardner and A. Atkins contributing to the expedition.
Sidney merchants urged a city paving program at a Lions club meeting held at the Asian Pacific hotel. The idea, first proposed by C A Blair, drew heavy applause as Roy W Lidgett endorsed it and the crowd backed the move to boost the city's appearance and business prospects.
John Henry Grosze five weeks old son of Mr and Mrs William H Grosze died early Thursday morning at their southwest Gurley district home after a short illness. Funeral services at one o clock this afternoon from the Lutheran church west of Gurley with Rev Phillip Polster officiating. Burial in the church yard cemetery. Rice funeral service will have charge. There are seven other children in the family four girls and three boys.
Nebraska bankers report corn crop will meet or exceed 25 bushels per acre as frost injury is minimal. Nearly all crop escaped frost, winter wheat sowing below last year, moisture generally sufficient, prices for corn wheat oats down from last month while feeder cattle and lambs stay well below year-ago levels.
Farmers report Cheyenne County will average around 35 bushels per acre, higher than the state 25 bushels. Frost damage is minimal with favorable weather aiding maturation, and bankers’ estimates align with the October 1 condition of 73 percent and a statewide yield near 230.9 million bushels, versus last year and the five year average.
Rapid Aid lines hosted a quick air rodeo in Sidney drawing a fair crowd. Several planes performed stunts and exhibition flying, with Freddie Lund among the troupe. Local residents enjoyed sky rides as pilots from Rapid Airlines showcased capable crews and road ships.

He urged reflection on forebearers hardships and the pace of modern life.
