A Nebraska Wheat Commission study shows five western counties Banner Box Butte Cheyenne Kimball and Perkins averaging over 2 million bushels annually in 1956 65 with Cheyenne far ahead at 4 31 million. Perkins 3 51 Kimball 3 15 Box Butte 2 48 Banner 2 33 join eastern counties Fillmore Gage Lancaster Saline Thayer in top 18 with 1.5 to 1.9 million. The 1966 crop yielded 102 million, about 28 million above the 1956 65 average of 73 65 million.
