Two Check Forgers in Custody after spree ends
Robert Riley Castoe and Edward Moore Wallace, both in their twenties and thirties, were captured at the Alliance Safeway after a writing spree in the region since late September. They admitted forging eight Sidney checks totaling 455 dollars and passing about 170 dollars in two groceries before their arrest. They pleaded guilty in Alliance and were bound over to district court on 500 dollar bonds each.

Area Beet Producers To Receive 271000 From Ovid Factory
Ovid factory growers will be paid over 271000 for their final payment on last year’s beet crop or about 1.15 per ton. I L Johnson, factory manager, said total payments to Ovid district beet growers on the 1961 crop reach 2879863. Sugar Act payments push average total to over 14.65 per ton. The 1961 crop averaged 15.36 tons per acre with 16.7 percent sugar. The 1962 harvest is about 60 percent complete with better than expected yields and higher sugar content. The Ovid factory operates at about 2433 tons per day with over 350 people employed in all operations.

Cheyenne area to hire about 2,000 workers for construction of 200 Minuteman missile sites in a 10,000 square mile zone across Colorado and Nebraska.
