Proceedings of the 40th Republican Convention at Ogallala
The 40th Republican Convention for Nebraska's 49th Representative District met in Ogallala Keith County on September 24 1876. Members elected C W Smith as chairman J H Sackett as secretary and named a district central committee including Q G Dinkinson W G Taylor and L A Lawton among others. Balloting produced Taylor as preferred candidate with multiple formal ballots and a unanimous vote. The convention adjourned sine die with delegates instructed for the central committee terms of two years.
