OFF TO THE FRONT MARCH ORDERS SENT TO RESERVATION FRONTIERS
The 21st Receives marching orders Sunday under Col Poland for a campaign against the Dakotas at the land of the Indians. Troops rush to prepare beds, gear and transport as bugle calls echo across the parade ground. A somber mood mixes with bravado as officers and men depart from Dodock toward a possibly grim winter of guard duty or battle. Thanksgiving Ball at White House Hall features 50 couples and fine music. Local notices cover price quotes and a North Divide association meeting about building a new house, asking members to donate logs by January 1, 1801.
