Changing business blocks reshuffle among city firms

The completion of new business blocks prompts moves by local firms. W S Rodman of Rodman Looschen Land Co leases the upper floor of the George Moore building with new offices nearby. Q A Torgerson joins Rodman Looschen across the hall in the O Kane building. B and Wagner and McKibbin and Son relocate their real estate offices. George Moore outfits the lower floor of his new brick building for a barber shop with two chairs and a dressing adjunct. A Chinese restaurant will open in the O Kane block lower area. Dr F C Beebe relocates to well appointed quarters in the Neubauer block offering a fine view, with playful dentist humor about imaginary pain.

Water works progress nears completion amid delays

The new水 works system nears completion as pipelines and stand pipe are in place and a well awaits a ten foot final depth. Pumping gear from Denver is needed to lower water to continue work, but officials expect a solution soon and residents remain patient for abundant supply.

At Odd Fellows Hall Monday night a pleasant gathering of Odd Fellows Rebeccas and G A R drew about seventy five attendees. J C Hudson presented the silk national flag on behalf of the G A R with C P Chambers accepting for his lodge and Mrs T B Dawson responding for the Rebeccas. The evening fostered mutual friendship and enjoyment through feasting music and speeches.

Col Haskell Weds Husband in June Wedding

Col. Haskell and Mrs Charity I Robinson were married last Sunday by Rev Ransom. Andrew J Haskell of Sidney and Charity I Robinson of Ogallala unite in marriage. The groom is a Cheyenne County pioneer aged 76, the bride is 62. They will reside in Sidney.

Fishman has let the contract for a new house on his lot with excavation under way for the cellar. The lot lies southwest of the block east of the school house. The two story modern home will include heating and lighting fixtures and every other convenience, signaling the prosperity of the young merchant.

Reception for Reverend and Mrs Zinnecker at Methodist church

A long receiving line greeted guests, a musical program and brief address followed, flowers adorned the parlor, and refreshments were served by Mrs. Jack Harper and Mrs. Charles Harper. The event showcased a graceful welcome for the minister and his wife.

Lodgepole Teacher Named County School Superintendent

The county commissioners yesterday appointed Miss Edith Morrison of Lodgepole to succeed Wm. Ritchie Jr. as county superintendent of schools. Morrison currently teaches in Lodgepole’s grammar department, holds a Pennsylvania life certificate and a Nebraska first grade with honors, and brings eleven years of teaching experience. She will assume duties January 7, when Ritchie’s resignation takes effect.

Dalton Couple Weds in November 1908 at Parental Home

Miss Elsie D. Poole of Dalton wed W. J. Ewing in a ceremony at the bride’s parents’ home witnessed by relatives. Reverend Burke officiated. the bride wore white chiffon over silk. A wedding dinner followed and the couple will reside in Dalton.

Mrs Tobin Hosts Lively Maccabees Gathering

Tuesday afternoon a group of about twenty Lady Maccabees invaded Mrs Frank Tobin's home, occupied the dining room, and served a feast while presenting their leader with a Maccabees pin. The hostess received polite tribute as the event brightened the afternoon.

Miraculous Escape From Scalding Tub Accident

Six year old child of Charles Stafford fell backward into a tub of scalding water early this week. He suffered severe burns to his back and limbs while confined to bed. Doctors report he is out of danger with little chance of lasting disability and remark on his narrow escape from death.

Union Pacific pushes North Platte to Northport expansion

North Platte reports orders to complete the North Platte river branch to Northport. Gowanda station and water tank erected twenty five miles west of Oshkosh. Trains between North Platte and Sidney to be dispatched by telephone soon, first such test on the Union Pacific. Division chosen for single track heavy traffic with automatic block signals. If successful, system wide rollout planned.
