Calcutta reports describe three large islands Uuttinh Sundeep and Dakhan Shualabazbare and many smaller is lands in Backergunge Nookholly and Chittagong entirely submerged by the October storm wave. Dakhan had about 20,000 people while Huttlah and Sundeep totaled about 100,000. By midnight on the 81st a twenty foot flood swept across, destroying homes, drowning cattle, and severing communications. many residents disappeared and entire communities were swept away.
