Mrs. Jaycees held their annual carry in dinner at Mrs. Bob Van Meter home with eight members and one guest Mrs. Gerald Tremain. Reports on state convention were given. New uniforms drew compliments. Plans include Christmas presents for local needy and foster children. January Mothers March chair Mrs. Folkerts with aides Belden and Cogil. Proceeds from January card party go to March of Dimes. Caroling party chili feed set for Dec 8. Next meeting Dec 11 hosted by Wentling and Belden. All Jaycee wives invited.

Mrs. Simpson Elected Head Garden Club in Sidney
Mrs. Keith Simpson was elected president of the Sidney Garden Club at a Tuesday afternoon meeting with Mrs. Florence Linton. Fifteen members and one guest attended. New officers include Miss Ruth Peterson as vice president, Mrs. Rex Olsen as secretary, and Mrs. Chet Hickman as treasurer.

Montgomery Rites Held for H. W. Montgomery
Funeral services for H. W. MontgOMery were held at Light Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sidney. Born November 1, 1903 in Petersburg Illinois to John and Belle Montgomery, he married Helen Green in 1929. They moved to Sidney in 1945 where he worked for Northwestern Bell before retiring, later moving to Fort Collins Colorado where he died after ten days in hospital. He leaves a son Major Robert Montgomery and a daughter Pat Stonehouse, seven grandchildren, six siblings, and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Santa will visit Sidney for 15 appearances starting Monday November 25 at 1016 Clinois. He arrives by fire engine downtown 6 00 to 8 00 PM and will appear at stores and downtown locations through December with a busy schedule including Jones Shopping Center Decker's Market and Osage Market events.

L W M L Meets at St Pauls Lutheran Women’s Missionary League
The St Pauls Lutheran Women s Missionary League met November 14 in the church fellowship hall with 19 members. Devotions were by Mrs G H Boehnke and a mission talk on Christians Being a Square by Mrs Walt Johnson. A mite box dedication and a clothing drive for Lutheran World Relief were reported. A pot luck supper is planned for November 17 at 5 30 p m. in the church hall. The group decided to order the book Women On a Mission for the church library. Next meeting is December 12.
