Division Defeated as County Tally Favors Republicans

In Cheyenne County election results Republicans swept county offices with four Republicans and four Democrats winning seats. Hi Doran edged Hagerty for county clerk, Will Wood defeated Hagerty for treasurer, and Democrat Wm Ritchie won county superintendent. Sheriff McDaniel was re elected by about 1000 votes.

Election results show close split amid county division debates

In a mixed county vote the division effort failed to gain a clear win though not by huge margins. Bridgeport drew unusually high turnout aiding the divisionists while Scotts Bluff saw fewer voters due to no major issues. Official canvass completed by 10 pm with County Clerk R E Barrett and two others tallying precinct returns from a long list of local residents.

The senior and junior Halloween party brought twenty three pupils and chaperones to Russell Dedrick’s home for a course supper with stops at six houses. A forthcoming program on Wednesday November 27 includes recitations, reviews, a pencil autobiography, a Thanksgiving story, Kipling life, and a debate on Initiative and Referendum. New students Perry Dittemore and Leonie Oberfelder join, while Hazel Oberfelder leaves for New York.

Sheridan minister to preach on Hell and Who Will Be There

A Sheridan minister announced he would preach on Hell and Who Will Be There. Before the next Sunday, he received letters from three lawyers, two merchants, three town officials and Editor Barrow of the Enterprise threatening to sue for slander if he named individuals in his disclosure.

Fire roars through Ogalalla businesses near bank

A Sunday morning blaze in Ogalalla destroyed parts of Davidson drug store Girman's meat market Hartley's restaurant Hollo way's real estate office and the Postal Telegraph office. Estimated loss reaches about 10000 with six percent insured. The board of education met to discuss an addition to the school house with architect Mr Clark awarded the drawing contract.

A Sidney Nebraska advert promotes grinding wheat rye and corn for flour. It claims whole wheat and rye flour are highly nourishing and healthful, touts its Wheatel product used for two years at a sanitarium, and credits Drs. Benda and Frazey as managers.
