Frences Mitchell remembered for energy aiding Cheyenne County
Frances Mitchell wife of James Mitchell died at Mt. Pleasant Iowa on October 28 1887 at age 33 years 1 month and 21 days. Born in Bohemia she came to the United States in 1872 later arriving in Sidney and joining the Black Hills boom era. She helped build up ranch properties on Long Pole Creek and supported needy settlers financially. She left four sons oldest 13 youngest 4. Her funeral at Blainey was led by Rev Slingluff of the German Baptist church with a hopeful sermon.
