District Auxiliary officers plan a visiting meeting in Peetz on Tuesday November 13 with a 6 45 p m dinner at the hall. Members are urged to bring baskets for the meal and gifts for the Christmas shop by November 8. The event includes a regular meeting and a Legion Auxiliary bake and lunch compe tition.
Mr and Mrs Albin Olson welcomed guests including Robert Robertson of Caldwell Idaho and Rex Behee of Idaho Falls to a Friday noon dinner at the Olson home. The Saddle Club enjoyed a cookout at Leonard Rankin farm near Lodgepole. Other locals joined drag races at Julesburg and social visits at the Methodist church and Frank Kurz home.
Numerous residents visited neighbors and relatives across Stanhope area including the Bell, Van Aelstyn, Olson, Kurz and Owens households. Attendees traveled from Ogden Utah Cheyenne Wyoming and Alexander Virginia with fall events such as a Halloween party at School District No. 36.
R L Olson of the U S Department of Agriculture told a Wheat Utilization Research conference at the University of Nebraska that advances in bread flavor chemistry could lead to superior bread less prone to staling and, when available, boost overall bread consumption. He noted public preference favors soft bland white loaves from modern commercial bakers.
