Bellevue Booth Highlights Firsts at 1961 Nebraska State Fair
Bellevue’s State Fair display, led by the Sarpy County Historical Society and Bellevue Press, highlighted the town’s past and growth. The exhibit noted Bellevue as Nebraska’s first permanently inhabited area and its Methodist church, the oldest church building in the state, preserved for history. It also traced Bellevue’s 1855 territorial incorporation alongside cities like Nebraska City and Brownville. The booth attracted thousands and illustrated Bellevue’s evolution from a town with a past to a fast growing community with a future.
