Bible School Classes To Open Next Week
Plans are nearly complete for Sidney's annual vacation Bible school sponsored by the ministerial association. Miss Agnes Ladine will be general superintendent this year. Children from kindergarten age up are invited. The school runs daily except Saturdays and Sundays, from 9:00 am to about 11:30 am, and ends June 15. Faculty are drawn from participating churches.

Mrs Mary Luella Straight, 71, longtime Sidney resident, died Wednesday after a brief illness following a stroke. Born November 16, 1865 in Henderson county Ta she lived there until 1881 then moved to Emerson Ia. She married Henry F Straight in Red Oak Ia in 1885 and the family later lived in Wayne and Sidney. Thirteen children survive: Wilfred, Tul ly, Clifford, Walter, Arthur, Harry, Glen, and others in Iowa, California, Oregon, and Nebraska. Funeral arrangements announced for Sunday.

Carbolic Acid Ended Life of Sidney Insurance Man
The body of J. W. Johnson, a prominent Sidney insurance man for 25 years, was found in his automobile on Hickory street near the public library yesterday afternoon. County coroner Heaton said Johnson swallowed carbolic acid, buying two ounces at a local drug store Tuesday noon, and death was instant. Sheriff Schulz and Heaton reported Johnson left his office after two p.m. and, after a search, found the car and body by the library with Johnson apparently dead.
