Sidney Prepares for May 30 VORTAC Commissioning
A Federal Aviation Administration DC-3 tests reflect a near completion of Sidney's VORTAC setup. The new station consolidates VOR and TACAN functions, replacing the old VOR site six miles southwest. The $250,000 installation includes a 25 by 25 foot building, air conditioning, diesel back up power, and distinctive semi cone antennae.
