Off Duty Officer Nabs Gering Theft Suspects
Patrolman Erwin Smith, off duty, alerted Sidney police to two Gering men wanted for theft. He spotted a 1940 black Chevrolet matching the description and license as it parked by the Commercial Hotel. Howard L. Shhuller and Frank Martindale, both of Gering, were taken into custody and later handed to Gering officials to face charges for stealing a Goodyear tire, an electric drill, and other tools from a cab stand.
