A crane and ball reduced the Cheyenne County Court House to rubble on Tuesday drawing a large crowd. Second story walls collapsed as debris is set aside for landfill at the fair grounds. Condemned materials were purchased during the demolition.
Lloyd Andersen surveys rat damage across storage, food, and housing sectors and estimates last year's Sidney population at 8 650 could have caused about 86 500 in losses. He lists food contamination, wasted feed, and property damage as key costs and urges public vigilance and source elimination to control rat populations.
Five people were hurt in four traffic accidents four miles northeast of Proctor Colorado. Crook family members Anita Kohlschmidt and her mother Emma Kohlschmidt sustained cuts and bruises while Anita’s baby Kyle suffered minor injuries. Dale Kohlschmidt escaped injury. A Melbourne Ring driven school bus was not carrying students. All injured were treated at Logan County Hospital with varying recoveries. Vehicle damage totaled about $3585. Drive carefully.
The Dakota Artists Guild announces its fourth annual Dakota Fine Arts Open Competition from Aug 25 to Sept 8 in Rapid City. Eligible entries come from North and South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Nebraska. Entries may include original paintings sculpture graphic arts and photography. Three works per division per artist. Entry fee 3 per work non members, 2.50 for guild members, 1 for photography. Postmark deadlines set to reach the Dakota Arts Council.
The gallery invites artists to submit works by August 9 and have entries shipped to arrive at Club Art Center by August 20. Makers should confirm their participation and ensure proper delivery details for timely handling.
