Weather Means Overtime For County Road Crews
The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners authorizes overtime for the County Highway Department to place emergency gravel as winter and spring weather damaged roads. Since May 7, 31 miles have been surfaced in Lorenzo, South Sidney and South Colton, with crews moving to South Lodgepole Sand and Gurley areas. A new gravel pit east of Gurley supports northeast projects and bridge work near Gurley continues, with oil surfacing in Gurley east awaiting wheat harvest completion. Fort Warren AFB requests eight miles of emergency gravel for missile routes east of Egging factory, funded by annual Air Force emergency budgets.
