Army Action Won't Delay Trade School Opening
The Army will not delay the opening of the Nebraska Vocational-Technical School at Sidney on October 3 despite removing 6,449 surplus items. Cecil D. Stanley, assistant education commissioner, said key concerns are three fire trucks, two ambulances, and a built in paint booth. Efforts continue to rescind deletions, with plans to replace trucks via older models from other bases. The 1965 Legislature funded the school at Sioux Army Depot, to be deactivated July 1, 1967, as a formal surplus request is prepared.
