Kimball moved to first in the Panhandle Baseball League with a 12-7 win over Potter after a 11-0 shutout by SOD over Peetz. Trumm West and Roauch led Kimball hitters, while Wes Gadway four hits for Potter. SOD used timely hitting and a strong defense to dominate Peetz.

Sidney junior and midget squads lost both ends of a road doubleheader to Scottsbluff. Midgets fell 7-0 in four innings as Forest pitched all the way for the winners, while Aden Martin Neu and others produced the big hits for Scottsbluff. Juniors dropped 12-6 after a five run first inning by Sidney faded. Scottsbluff answered with six runs in the fourth inning. Sidney batters Wieser Pfiel Johnson and Keiper sparked early offense but three Sidney hurlers Keiper Wieser Bauman allowed all 10 hits as errors piled up for both sides.

Dalton Tigers finish seventh in Nebraska Class D meet
Dalton high school placed seventh in Class D at the Nebraska state track meet in Lincoln with nine points finishing ahead of Harrisburg. The team won the mile relay in 3 28 by Kragel Lessman Westerhoff and McRoberts. McRoberts also took fifth in the 440. Harrisburg tied for second in the pole vault and contributed to its three point total. In Class B Chappell earned four points as John Terry placed second in the 440 while Valentina’s Jim Murphy won the 440 in 50.5 seconds.

Hastings won the Nebraska high school grass greens golf title last weekend in a field of 19 at Hastings with a 238. EdRomine led individuals with 75. Alliance finished at 281 and Sidney placed near bottom with 282. Ric Ladine led Sidney with 92, Roger Gunderson 93, Rodney Bales 98.

Fisher Gilliland Star for Sidney at State Track Meet
Sidney high finished 18th in Class A at Lincoln as Fisher and Gilliland led the Maroons. Fisher set 12-2 in the high jump tying for fourth, Gilliland won a 120 yard high hurdles race and contributed in other events, while Lincoln High won the team title amid heavy rain and tough conditions.
