The Deestrict Skule debuts tonight at the Tobin Uproar House with shop window portraits of the players. Proceeds from the home talent production fund public library books. Cast members, eager to please, anticipate future road engagements beyond this one night.
Misses Julia and Kate Connelly of Brady are guests in the home of their aunt Mrs. Julia Scanlon.
A Strawberry Day event is planned for Friday June 1 at the New Fruit Store in Oberfelder Block. The event promotes fresh produce and local shopping, inviting residents to explore seasonal fruit selections and special offers.
Commencement exercises begin with the Baccalaureate at the Methodist church on Sunday the 20th with a sermon by Reverend Ives. The senior class play is on Wednesday the 23rd and commencement day is Thursday May 24 featuring music and speeches led by R I Elliot president of Chadron State Normal. A seniors banquet by the juniors occurs Saturday evening as a class affair.

Co. W. Simon will travel to Salt Lake City today for a sixty days leave of absence from his role as Western Union manager at the Union Pacific depot. He will spend part of the time on a change of work. Mrs. Simon plans to visit a sister in Wyoming and stay through the summer. The Simon home has been rented for several months by BE, TC, Stockdick and wife.

On Thursday evening during the first week little Bobby McDaniel fell from a bicycle and struck the stone curbing. The elbow cap is displaced and the upper arm bone is broken in one place and cracked in another. He is a general favorite and is getting along after a period of pain.
D P Hagen chairman of the Federal Land Bank Board spent Wednesday and Thursday in Sidney and vicinity gathering details on securities for loans. A veteran in these matters he is considered conservative and well balanced for the post. Before Federal service he lived in Messina Iowa.
J. C. Dunn of Davison precinct sold twelve thoroughbred hogs in Denver. Three were over a year old and the rest younger. He received 15.96 dollars per hundred, netting better than 782 dollars.
Charles Hoffmeyer, a substantial early settler of the South Divide, died in Denver last Sunday after a long illness. His funeral will be held at the Dunkard church with German Liberian services by Rev. O W Jeungel. Interment will follow in the cemetery ten miles south. A fuller obituary will appear next week.
Daniel F Risbel died May 13 at Illis Colorado from nephritis at age 24. His body was brought to Malcolm Nebraska for burial. He is survived by a wife and both parents. Funeral services were to be held in Malcolm.
W L Stevens died in North Platte last Sunday evening after a long period of medical care. He was among the county’s oldest educators and a progressive citizen. He was father of Herbert Stevens, editor of the Potter Review. The remains were sent east for burial.
H Schleutter is enlisted in the army air corps and stationed at Fort Leavenworth Kansas. He is home on a five day furlough to attend to business matters and is earnest in his interest in the country’s work and enjoys talking with friends.
A preliminary meeting led by A J Clemons of the Farm Labor Bureau was held at the court house to organize locally for matching farmers needing help with workers. A follow up meeting is planned for Monday May 21 in the district court room to advance efforts, with clubs unions bankers and women’s groups urged to cooperate for the world’s food supply.
The T. N. balance society hosted a dance and ice cream luncheon at Tobin Opera House to aid the Red Cross. Dedrick orchestra provided music, encores delighted attendees, and the event drew broad public support. Thanks were given to patrons, the orchestra, and Messrs Tobin and Kruse for venue kindness.

Ex governor Boise of Iowa spent part of Wednesday in this town. Returning from a winter in Long Beach he visited days with the J. C. Dunn family northeast of here. Boise owns a section and a half of land near Dunn and holds three hundred acres in crop. This fall he will seed the remainder.
George Wesley Rogers of Proctor Colorado and Jennie Yahn of Crook Colorado wed at the Methodist parsonage in Sidney Nebraska on May 14 1917 Rev L E Lewis of M B church officiated They will reside on their farm near Proctor Colorado.
Calvin Raymond Brooks of Sterling Colorado and Miss Eda Lillian Billington of Sterling Colorado were united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage Saturday May 12 1917. L E Lewis pastor of M E church officiating. They returned to Sterling on the evening train where they will make their home. Mr Brooks is a carpenter by trade.
Announcements report the marriage of Miss Barbara Kucera and Mr Charles Shea in Yosemite California Barbara Kucera is the daughter of Mr and Mrs V F Kucera born and raised in the county The notice wishes the couple great happiness in their married life.
Mr and Mrs Otto Hink left after a month with their children Mr and Mrs Otto Hink Jr and Mr and Mrs Ernest Stuht. They traveled to Falls City to see a daughter and her husband Reverend and Mrs Guersche and learned their home had burned the night before.
Born to Mr and Mrs George Nelson a son named John Ranklin Nelson.
Governor Neville orders local officials Sheriff Litton and Clerk Slawson to enforce conscription registration upon receipt of the President's Proclamation. All voters aged in the county must register at their precinct, with volunteers invited to serve as registration officers. Potter precinct already offers two volunteers, J A Woten and Will Goding.
Sergeant Jones and Corporal Stall return and reopen a recruiting station in the rear office of the Osborn Jorgenson suite for several more days. They will meet local boys to discuss enlistment and service opportunities.
