Nebraska lawmakers moved to scrap the one cent gas tax repeal and to block S B 2 the highway commission plan. After factional shifts and sponsor withdrawals only two highway bills remained alive as farm groups petroleum interests and motor carriers argued once more. The chamber also defeated a pay raise plan for state department heads and created a 12th committee to screen county officials pay plans amid tense debates and procedural stances.
